What are some things to do in or around Monte Carlo?

Monte Carlo or Tropicana?

  • Going to las vegas around mid february, trying to decide between Monte Carlo or Tropicana. I've read both good and bad things about both places. Anyone stayed at either or both and can shed some light on the subject? I was somewhat leaning more torwards monte carlo only because of its location and the tram it had to the bellagio, the tropicana looks great but seems to be in location thats might get old going to and from all the time.

  • Answer:

Monte Carlo definitely has a better location. I also prefer its pool and its dining options (although you can certainly eat there without staying there). It's a nice hotel, with a laid-back atmosphere. Tropicana is old, but it has been recently renovated and looks really nice. The pool area is also a nice one. I don't think it has as much to offer, and its location isn't as ideal, but it's not really a bad place either. If it were me, I'd probably choose Monte Carlo. But if there is a big difference in price, then Tropicana is plenty nice enough.

Tropicana! I stayed there 2 years ago and it was OK, but I went back this summer and it is completely redone and looks AWESOME!!! The pool is GREAT!

The Tropicana has been freshly renovated, and probably has the best standard rooms in Las Vegas. It's probably also cheaper. The only bad thing about it is location, but it's not that much further than Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is getting old, it's quieter than I like a hotel to be, and the walk to the hotel from the strip is actually a lot longer than it would be walking to your room of the Tropicana. If you're close to either decision, check prices of both and decide that way. http://www.mycheapvegas.com has all the promo codes you need.

Also, prefer Monte Carlo because of its location. It doesn't really stand out like the other hotels (no Pirates or fountains or volcano's), but you really just want a nice play to crash at night, right :) Also, it's a bit more north so it's closer to the new City Center, PH, Paris, etc. Both are 4 star hotels so whichever is cheaper. Good luck!

The Trop renovations are still going on, albeit its more the minor stuff. Rooms are definitely updated and nicer than they were before. That being said, I still prefer the MC - better dining choices, slightly better location and more of an upscale feel and a bigger casino. However, you really can't go wrong with either......

Hmmm hard choice! Yes the monte carlo has the tram connected to bellagio and city center. The tropicana do have over street bridges to walk to MGM, Excalibur, Luxor, NYNY and Mandalay Bay casinos. I think Monte Carlo is a bit nicer.

Tropicana was sold and renovated, so all new. Monte Carlo is the same and yes the tram is still there. Pick the one with the best room deal!
