Best Places to Play Slots in Vegas??
-
I am making a trip to Las Vegas this week and wondered if anyone who has been there recently who likes to gamble and play slots could give me some pointers on best odds and specific machines at places which are paying out lately??

Answer:
The strip has the worst odds. Go off the strip to a locals casino like the Stations and you have a better chance there. All the big winners have been at the Stations but there are so many others like Tuscany, Sam.s Town, Silverton .. etc. Everyone has a theory on machine locations that hit more often than others .... if they knew then they would be on those machines and not tell anyone. Just stay away from those jumbo giant slots.

Tough to answer this question...I've spent years in the casino business and will quote one of my favorite line when asked where to play in Vegas: "If I knew, I wouldn't be working here would I ?" Answer is: No one really knows as each casino has hundreds, if not thousands of slot machines, and each is set to a different "hold" percentage...or the amount that the casino will theoretically keep over the span of 1 million games on a particular slot machine. There are local notions that downtown or the boulder strip are the best places to play, but these are typically not slots but rather video poker and not designed for tourists but rather Las Vegas locals. Bottom line: The probability of you winning is low as multi-billion dollar hotels are built on winners. Go see a show instead.

I just got back from Vegas a couple of weeks ago. I played at the Riviera (where we stayed) and pulled out 150 bucks from a nickel machine (the big wheel of fortune) I then found a penny machine called Hot Hot Super Jackpot. It was 30 cents a play. Had more fun on those machines than any other. I looked for those machines where ever I went. I played them at the Circus-Circus, Riviera, Downtown at one of the old casinos(not sure what the name was but they had like 30 different flavors of Daquiris. I played it at Bally's. I played all lines 1 credit each. I played for hours, didn't win big. But I would pull out 30 bucks or so. At Balley's I found a machine at the entrance to the Jubilee theatre, won 80 bucks in a bonus round. Slots are really to kill time, not really going to win big unless luck is on your side. I felt that I got my money's worth sticking to those machines. If I would have kept playing the casino would get it all and then some. I took winnings and moved on. If I was ahead, I set a limit on how much I wanted to take out. Example I had 35 bucks credit, I play until I had at least 25 bucks left. I only would put 5 bucks in a penny machine so In my example I walked away with 20 bucks. Don't get me wrong, I did not go home a big winner, but I didn't lose much either. Bet what you can afford to lose. AND NO MORE. Play for entertainment only. Have fun!

Slots are for suckers. Most slots have a payout of up to about 90%. Which means, when you put $100 in, if you win $90 back, you still lose $10. How many people in a day do this? They are only open to make money, not millionaires.

One, Downtown has the loosest machines. They want to try to draw you in downtown so you go there instead of the strip. Two, Play close to doors, entryways and entrances to shops and restaurants. They want people to win there because people who are waiting at the restaurant or on their way out will think, "Hmm, these people are winning I'd better stay and play. Three, Play at the displays sponsored by the machine company, not the casino. They apparently want you to do well on their machine.

Santa Fe Station it is off the strip so the locals go there but me and everyone else I was with did better there than anywhere else. It is near Centennial about 15 minutes from the strip and they have a really, really good buffet yum!

Rent a car and go to the locals casinos off of the strip and Fremont street. Go to http://www.cheapovegas.com for detailed maps and reports of each casino.
