Where should I stay in Las Vegas?
-
I am going to Vegas next weekend for my birthday and am having a hard time deciding where to stay. I want something nice, but still affordable. Places that I have been recently looking at include Mirage, Flamingo, Paris, Luxor, Planet Hollywood, MGM, Tropicana, Monte Carlo, Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. I have heard great things about Wynn and the Venetian as well. I want to stay somewhere on the strip, close to the clubs ( I plan on going to XS and Tao), affordable, but a nice hotel. It doesn't have to be the cheapest one but I don't want to spend too much money, seeing as most of the time won't be spent in the hotel. Any suggestions, guidelines, etc? Thanks in advance!

Answer:
Well, it depends on what you mean by a lot of money. Venetian or Wynn's rates can be a huge amount of money for many people. So, if you can afford Mirage, for example, it's a fantastic place to stay in and quite close to Tao and XS,... If you need to go lower in price, then MGM is great (though not quite so close to Tao), Mandalay Bay is excellent (quite far though, all the way South Strip...)... Monte Carlo is a compromise but it's a cheap, more than decent alternative.

This hotel is not ON the strip but has a Shuttle to and from the strip 24/7. It's VERY nice and cheap. It has a great caniso and pool 2. it's view of the strip is worth seeing and its only 2-3 blocks from the strip. its not TOO loud. great for kids. it's called LVH. las vegas hotel ( formly the las vegas hilton)

I stayed at The Luxor and was very happy with everything except the depth of the swimming pool. Great food at Tacos & Tequila (T&T), The Backstage Deli (order a Sonora Dog)... The Pyramid Cafe wasn't worth it, unless you're just going for the onion rings... The room was nice. Big bed, hot tub, big bathroom, the cleaning lady Lupe was great, and my week there was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

I would suggest staying Harrah's. It right on the strip and close to everything. It is also right on a shuttle stop. I have no complaints about my stay there and would stay there again without question.

Imperial Palace. It's close to all the clubs you mentioned. It's not the nicest hotel, but definitely not the worst either.

I have stayed in Fitzgerald, Bally's, and Las Vegas Hilton. I would say stay at the MGM Grand. It seems like a nice hotel to stay.
