How good are my chances for landing a federal job?

What are my chances of landing a job at a new hotel on the Las Vegas strip?

  • I work for a hotel chain in Philadelphia currently at the highest hotel brand offered among its other hotels. What are my chances of landing the same job at their new hotel opening on the Las Vegas strip since they promote from within first? Plus, I'm single and can make such a move right away.

  • Answer:

Contact Human Resources at your company. Make them aware that you are available for immediate transfer to the new property in Las Vegas, that you are very interested in making the transfer and ask them what procedures you need to complete to facilitate the transfer. The new property will need skilled employees for the launch and to train new employees. Your company may even pay you to move there. Don't waste any time. Set yourself up for success. The more you do, the better your chances.

my friend works in the hotel field as well so i was able to meet some vegas hotel manager types. all of them have years of experience in high end hotels and resorts. with your experience you do have a chance of getting hired for a lower position and working your way up. I know it sucks but its a cruel world.

EXCELLENT.

To obtain a mathematical ratio, I'd have to know how many are applying for the position ;) Seriously, though, your chances are good, providing you've got a great work history and have been with the company over a year. I'd keep vying for the job..even after applying, pester the HR department. Being you dont have kids or married, I think they'd promote you to the Vegas job with no problems.

Networking and having contacts helps. Your experience suggests that you're a good candidate for the job, therefore, when you see the job posts or ads, apply with send your resume. Almost every employer "promotes or hires from within", that doesn't mean you're SOL. In fact, you can still land the job over an established employee depending on how you present yourself and work experience to the employer. You should start now if you haven't already. Good chance right now. The Venetian is looking for qualitied people right now and can't find them. Go to their website and fill out an application.

If the new hotel is owned by the same company for which you currently work, your chances are better than most, especially if your supervisior can back you. Most jobs in Las Vegas will not hire you unless you have an established address in the area already. Some will not even bother to interview you if they see your address is not in the Las Vegas area. Any who do will probably tell you to call them when you move there.
