Are There Any Mimes In Las Vegas?

I wonder about las vegas?

  • i recently moved to las vegas, nevada and been here for 4 months. love the night life because my roommates seen to know alot of people who work in the nightclubs. everything you seem to need in a city can be seen in las vegas. anyways ive meet alot of people in las vegas even more at work. alot of people ive talked that lived in vegas for awhile or even grew up here seen to hate las vegas. they told me they hate the weather, they hate the rude people, its a bad place to raise a family, not a diverse place, no culture except for the casinos. i recieve so many negative feedbacks about las vegas. is there anybody out there that lives in las vegas that loves the place? seems like alot of former cali resident including myself are living in las vegas now. they probably home sick.

  • Answer:

everyone i've met (i mean everyone) who's moved to vegas from cali has expressed the wanting to move back to cali. vegas is cool cuz its within good driving distance from socal, and theres so many incentives for tourists to come.... but certainly not to live there. its becoming just as expensive as california, and theres nothing to do there. the lake is gross, the ski resort sucks, education is a joke, everyone either wants to become a card dealer or a stripper

I've lived in Paradise Township for 26 years. That's one of the two urban townships that serve as the site of the Strip. Over those years I've raised four children to adulthood, enjoyed many performances of the Las Vegas and Nevada State Symphonies, the Nevada Ballet Theater and a host of visiting classical music orchestras and performers. I've also attended many free lectures at UNLV which featured world and national leaders. So, I don't understand the "lack of culture" comment. In recent years we've not gone to the Strip as much as in the past to catch different shows. The prices are enormous compared to when we first moved here, even when you factor in inflation, and the production show has pushed out the star performer. My biggest beef is with those who move here without recognizing or accepting the social ethos of Nevada. This is a place where you can do whatever you want to do until your community votes it out. Boulder City did that when it banned gambling many years after gambling was legalized state-wide. But, they didn't force their view on anyone else. We now have more and more moving here from states who were escaping from high taxes and restrictive laws. Then they try to overlay those laws and tax policies on Nevada. The scariest bunch is the one with the mantra of "we have to do it for the children". I'm a believer in the old cowboy prayer: "Lord keep us from the school marms and the preachers". A famous writer named H.L. Mencken warned us about these groups in the 1920s. He called them the New Puritans and described them as folks who lay awake at night worrying that somewhere out there someone is having fun. When I retired from the Navy I could have put down roots anywhere in the world. I chose this little chunk of desert and am still very happy with my choice.

If you're over 21, you may want to checkout the free social goup at meetin.org . They have cultural events for friendly locals. I don't live there, but I visit often (have a good friend who lives there), and think it's very nice!

I live in Vegas and I LOVE the weather. I come from Quebec Canada where it was REALY cold! So, I REALY like the weather. It's true, there are some VERY rude people, but there are some nice people too. :)

I moved to Las Vegas in August of 2006 and I am very happy here. I've been trying to move here from California since 98 and I finally made it. I don't really have any complaints other than when family and friends come to visit they don't understand that you can't always hang out because you have to work! If you can see past the tourism I think you could make a great life here. The housing is no where near as expensive as California and there are really a lot of nice areas in Las Vegas. I love the fact that you never really have to drive far for anything because its like all the neighborhoods have everything you need. Although I do get homesick sometimes for California, I'm not in a rush to go back. I do miss my family but they're only a 3 hour drive away. Being here for 4 months is still relatively new so give it a little more time if you haven't made up your mind yet about living here. Like with any new environment, it takes some adjustment. Good luck to you!

i've lived in vegas for 7 years now and i'm ready to move back to st. louis. las vegas rode the wave in the late 1990's and early 2000's when the housing market was booming, the stock market was good, gas prices were low, but now that has all changed. see, las vegas lives off of disposable income. it's people from ohio, iowa, coming here with a few hundred dollars for a weekend and having a good time. well, people don't have that few hundred dollars anymore. it's a fact that gaming revenue is down here and that effects everything. they can't hire more police, so crime is going up, they can't make new roads, so traffic is INSANE now. i love "vegas", but it's no longer the cool place to live anymore. maybe in a few years when the economy gets better.
