What are some requirements to be a travel agent?

I would like a career as a travel agent I need to know education, salary,age requirements,benefits of this job

    First of all travel agents don't make a lot, about $25 to $30K. Second, in the US you will nedd to either go to a travel school or get a trainee job at a travel agency and learn on the job. You just need to be 18 to go to travel school and whatever age to get hired at an agency (but at least 18). Benefits will depend on where you work. The biggest benefit of working in travel is free/reduced rates for air and hotel. These benefits don't come until you complete training and have served a period with an agency. The agency will issue you a card that allows the benefits of reduced travel. If you work for an airline you can get free air and reduced hotel rates. I did travel school at Carlson Travel Academy. They offer full time and part time and job placement assistance.

You should specify which country you're seeking the job in. If you are in the US, I don't think there is an absolute education requirement. There is no age requirement other than you have to be high school grad. If you're starting as an inexperienced employee, salary will not be much. Just like any other job, if you work for a bigger company like Expedia, your benefit will be average to good. A lot of travel agent work on commissions or part time only, which case there is no benefit. You should also know because of the troubled airline companies, the travel industry is probably not the hottest. Try finding a job opening of any kind in the big travel company nationally or locally and you can get company training to become a travel agent.
