Would this be a good beginner's cello?

Cello shops in Indiana?/ beginners cello price?

• I play saxophone and thought that playing cello would be cool. I live in Indiana and I was wondering where I could get a VERY low priced cello. How much is a beginners cello and where could I get one?

  In Indianapolis, Paige's Music would have ones you could try out. (Assuming you are an adult, you'll want a full size cello). I haven't priced them lately though. A great source for what we call student instruments is Southwest Strings, a catalog warehouse store located out west somewhere, but I've purchased many really nice student instruments from them, all arrived safely. I believe you can get one for under $400, including bow and maybe even a soft case. The prices are great because they deal in lots of volume. Just north of Indiana, in Michigan, is a company called Shar, and I think they also deal in student level instruments. All of these have websites too. You might try any local music store, depending on what city you are in, and if they deal in rentals with local schools they could have deals on instruments that are a little more well-used but that would work well for what you want.
