Houston area parents, would you recommend any of these schools?
-
im in the process of applying for GT/magnet programs for my daughter. she will be entering the second grade at the start of the 2009-10 school year. there are a few schools that we have researched but i am still looking for parents of current or recent attendees who can give me their take on these schools. i posted a similar question not long ago and while i appreciated the response i am looking only for parents of children who have gone to these schools recently or know someone who has so they can tell me their opinion of the school. i am not looking for private school suggestions or other school suggestions. we have a private school in mind if we are not happy with any of these public school programs.i just want personal feedback on these schools. thanks in advance. the schools are: TH Rogers Roberts River Oaks Lovett the Rice School and Twain Elementary

Answer:
A friend of mine worked at T.H. Rogers and I heard a lot of good things about that school and not just from him. My friend worked with deaf and multi impaired children there. Their website is http://ms.houstonisd.org/THRogers/ Another school I've heard great things about is The Rice School. They take students with a magnet application. Therefore, their students are selected. I've always thought to put my kids in this school. You can also check out their website: http://www.thericeschool.org/ Since December 8th-December 12th is Magnet Awareness Week you can go to any school that has a magnet program and they should be able to give you a tour and tell you what their school has to offer. More info about the Elementary programs are available at http://www.houstonisd.org/portal/site/MagnetEnglish/ You can also download an application. I know it's a hard decision because as parents we want the best for our children.

I have heard good things about all but Twain b/c I never heard of it. I live right by River Oaks School & it's very nice & in a safe area. Lovett is also good.
