How much does it cost to move a car from the east coast to Hawaii?

  • Hey! I'll be moving in about 18 months to Hawaii and I'm trying to figure out what to do with my car. It's an older car so I'm wondering if I should just keep repairing it and eventually take it with me or sell it when I leave. Anyone know how much it costs roughly to transport a car to Oahu? Thanks in advance!

    You can get your vehicle from California or Washington (state) for pretty much $1100. To ship your vehicle from the east coast to the west coast you are looking at about $1000 to go to California and $1200 or so to go up to Seattle, WA. So east coast to Hawaii you should base your estimates on about $2200. I've included a link to the Matson (the over the water shipping company) pricing page. The over the land part you will need to find a vehicle transport company. I've included a couple links to tools that can get you a "ball park quote" for the vehicle transport. If you need a specific quotes for your vehicle and route you can get a free one from Vehicle Transport.com (http://www.vehicletransport.com). So, depending on the value of the car you may want to sell and get a new one. $2000 is a pretty good amount of money. Hope this helps. Good luck.
