Where is the best place to buy fireworks in Hawaii?

• im visiting from california and wondering where is the best place to buy fireworks? in terms of price and variety? ive asked a local, and they said walmart, city mill, don quixote, and even costco! also where can i get those bottle rockets? and i hear some loud booming sounds, what is that? sounds like a bomb! its so awesome that hawaii can do fireworks. i willing to spend couple hundreds even.

  You can go to either don quixote or longs drugs for the best price and selection. The other places such as walmart, city mill, costco and sam's club have fireworks but they are usually the bulk packs (pricey) and don't have a very wide selection. Bottle rockets and everything else that goes up in the air (aerials) are illegal here in Hawaii. Unless you "know someone" you won't be popping those things here. Also firecrackers are illegal unless you buy a $25 permit. You can buy novelties with out a permit, such as fountains, sparklers and other types of fireworks. The bomb sound that you here are probably the ground bloomers with report. They are a type of novelty that you can buy here locally and what it does is it spins on the ground, emitting sparks then at the end it blows up. It is a very popular item here in Hawaii. Also stay away from those "roadside" stands because they sell the same things as other stores but for double or even triple the price you would pay some where else.
