Is there a lot of traffic on the fourth of july?

Is there a lot of traffic in Honolulu?

  • I an trying to see what is best. New York City or Honolulu. Some people think I'm crazy when I say this but I like traffic, beeping, etc... I found a nice place on Bishop Street and I do like it. I'm leaning more towards Honolulu rather then NYC because in New York it is extremely expensive to live there. In Honolulu it is also extremely expensive but not as expensive as NYC is. If anyone could help me on which street has the most traffic, beeping, pedestrians, and night life on it, that would be great. I right now am leaning towards the Bishop Street area.

  • Answer:

NYC has the honking and the Smell of traffic (aka: pollution) Traffic is different in Honolulu - drivers are more courteous, slower moving and lots less of in a hurry. In Honolulu it is not uncommon for someone to break down in traffic, blocking lanes and people will jump out of their cars to help push the car to the side or to a station. I have NEVER seen that in NYc!

...some streets have nightlife, others have a lot of cars, etc. I don't think any one street has everything you're looking for. Oh, scratch that! There are apartment complexes in downtown, and on Ward Avenue that have what you're looking for. Lots of cars in both areas, nightlife, and pedestrians (not so much at night of course). I should add this about the honking: I hardly hear drivers honk their horns, unless it's to avoid an accident or to inform the driver in front that the light's green.

Lots of choices... Kuhio Ave or Ala Wai Blvd in Waikiki, Kapiolani Blvd or Ala Moana Blvd in the Ala Moana area, Bishop St downtown, any of those should give you a decent amount of street noise. My friend lived on the corner of Ala Wai & Piikoi & that seemed noisy enough to me.

You will find plenty of traffic and noise on the water front streets and roads and enough anywhere near the water.
