Question about a Cruise to Hawaii?
-
Sorry i've asked this so many times but nobody is answering what I'm asking. Let me try to clear it up better, sorry. Ok I want to take a boat to Hawaii because I can not fly (I'm scared). Ok so after I take the boat to Hawaii (A cruise) we go to our hotel (or wherever) and then we can stay there for a week or two then take the asme boat back? all on one price? Or do we have to take a whole nwe boat back to LA? Does anybody know how long it is to take a boat just to one island in Hawaii? Not all of them. Thanks

Answer:
Your right, no one is answering your question. First, your looking for a ship, not a boat. A boat is the little thing on the side of the ship. It takes at least 4 full days to go from San Diego to Hawaii. Some cruise lines slow it down a bit and cruise for 5 days. Most cruises are round trip from CA to HI. It is possible to get off the ship when you arrive, but you'd have to take a different one back. This is rarely done nowadays. There just aren't enough back to back cruises to Hawaii for you to easily plan this type of trip. I highly recommend that you phone a cruise consultant (not just an ordinary travel agent) and see if what you want is possible.

You might check with some of the containerized ships that sail from the west coast to Hawaii. Some of the lines use to have extra rooms that they rented to people. You could book passage in each direction, based on their sailing schedules. However, with Cruise ships so prevalent now, they may have stopped offering this revenue service. You might try calling Matson Lines or Horizon Lines. I believe they both offer container service to Hawaii. If they no longer offer passenger service on their ships, they might be able to help you with how does. Remember that if they do offer this service, you will be on a container ship and NOT a cruise ship with all the amenities!! And PLEASE!! Its a SHIP, not a boat.. Good Luck

when ur booking ur trip you have to see long you stay ashore. I went on a short cruise where we would get to the ports and only stay there the day until about 5 pm, then go back on the boat. if you look for example on carnival.com it shows you the exact times. http://www.carnival.com/Itinerary.aspx?embkCode=ENS&itinCode=HWJ&durDays=12&shipCode=SP&subRegionCode=H&rateCode=PR1%20%20&sailDate=4/12/2009&sailingID=46748

Best thing to do is contact your local travel agent, as they can help you not only with these questions, but find the best rates and make suggestions for you that will fit your needs.

It takes 5 days to get from the West Coast to Hawaii. Ask a travel agent for your other questions. They should be able to help you!
