Which is better way to experience cruise and hawaii?

  • 26 and going to hawaii with parents from LA. The cruises are really long but watever, i'm hoping we like the cruises and cruising. But the itineraries are ridiculous, they jump city to city without spending one night there?! So i'm thinking if i could find a cruise (one of those big ones) and cruise to one city and spend 3-4 nights there and cruise back! is this possible? Someone told me to fly there instead, and take a hawaii cruise!? has anyone done this before; I was really hoping to avoid flights.

  • Answer:

Best way to see Hawaii is fly, then rent your own car and see what you want to see. Also the Hotels offer tours that shuttle you around to the Popular tourist attractions and you can pick which one you want. Each tour cost a different price and each tour is so many hours. Each one does different places to see and you get to pick. If not then the Hotel can tell you what places to see and you can drive to them on your own. We did both and loved it.

If you want to spend more time in one city, you should just fly over there and stay for a week or so. In my opinion, the only reason for going on a cruise around Hawaii would be to see what each island is like and decide which one you'd like to see on your next vacation. To fully experience Hawaii, you need to spend some time there. If you're determined to go on a cruise, it would make more sense to fly to Hawaii and go on a cruise that begins and ends there. Otherwise, you'll be spending most of your time at sea between the mainland and Hawaii, and very little time sightseeing.

That's what cruise boats do - overnighting in port costs a fortune so they don't do it, also that gives you the day to sightsee, or at any rate a few hours. don't see why a Hawaii cruise would be any different. Of course you have to make sure the boat is coming back the same way if you want to jump off, otherwise you will have to fly to catch it up - there's no passenger boat service between the island. I also thought that Hawaii was just offshore of the US coast until I first went there!

That really is the best options because cruise ships have different laws regarding gambling on Hawaiian Waters and also the neighbor island cruises you see more of Hawaii. However it's not as great as the Carnival Cruises I can tell you that.
