What are some cheap hotels in Maui?

Maui or Kauai in late June? Hotels?

  • My wife and I are deciding on Maui or Kauai in late June. We want a nice hotel (private ocean view balcony) w/spa services..also great beach. Would love our days to be a mix of playing in the ocean, hiking, bike rides, swim up bars...etc. and nights with ocean view restaurants and open air bars. Most common suggestions from our Facebook friends: Ritz- Carlton, Kapalua, Hyatt- Maui, Sheraton Maui, Four Seasons Maui @ Wailea. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks to everyone.

Ok, you know either place you can't lose, but here some suggests just for you, ok? Kauai great place to visit, and lotta great place to stay, you mite consider St. Regis Hotel, Princeville on North shore of island, sometime little damp, but overall beautiful place with all thing you talk about, ok? And, not as crowded as otha place in Hawaii, specially in June, cause that prime time for vacations, ok? Now, not cheap, but hey, you want the best, you found it on Kauai, ok? Maui gonna be more people, also, more stuff to do, ok? Princeville kinda end point resort, Hotels/Condo's on Maui less so, cause more hotels, more restaurants, more stuff, ok? If you want Maui, and like Kaanapali side of Island, then Hyatt Kaanapali hard to beat, but if you consider Wailea side, 4 seasons very nice, but also Grand Wailea rite next door got better pool, and better beach, so you pay you money, and take you choice, ok? Peace and aloha to you!

My wife and I went to Kauai in the middle of July a few years ago and stayed in at the Outrigger Waipouli in Kapa'a. Kauai is good if you like nature and hiking. What is nice about the Outrigger is that these are condo resorts so there is a kitchen where you can cook your own meals. A Safeway grocery store is across the street. Cooking some of our meals ourselves saved us money. The Grand Hyatt is the only 5 star hotel on Kauai. You can always split your time and do part of it on Kauai and then fly to Maui or vice-versa.
