What are romantic things to do in Maui?

What are some things to do with a family on Maui?

  • Our family of 6 is taking a vacation to Maui this summer during the end of July and the beginning of August. Our kids are between the ages of 7 and 13. Any suggestions of fun things to do for our family on Maui? Thanks!!!!!!!

This is a great island for kids. Since you are coming during the summer months, it will be rather hot (and sometimes humid), so they will probably want to spend most of there time on our beautiful beaches. Booking a lot of planned activities is very costly for a family of your size, but there are many things you can do at the beach that are good fun like swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding and beach combing. Just make sure that everyone is slathered in sunscreen and never turns their back to the ocean. There is a cool vessel on the Lahaina side called the "SeaView" that goes out for one and a half to two hours that is great for kids, and very reasonable. There is a free hula show every night at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel outside under the stars in their courtyard that has good food and is great for kids to run around (while you have a cocktail) and they will even teach them how to dance the hula. I hope you enjoy our island and aloha!

Since your family is large, I would go to the top of Haleakala crater it is only about 1-2 hour drive and a whole carload is only 10 dollars. Also Atlantis submarine is really fun for kids and you can get deals on that as well. If you are ok with taking large drives drive to Hana and see the Bamboo forest and the gorgeous waterfalls. There are other activities that are more expensive. It really depends on what you are looking on spending. Also the luau at Kaanapali is really fun and the beach is gorgeous. I would also go to Kalama Park if you are looking to just hang out with the kids one day. The playground is great and right on the beach/water.

Thank you for saying 'on Maui' instead of 'in Maui'. It's not what one would call a kid's island. The resorts are more geared to providing entertainment to kid's of that age. Outside of the resorts, it's the same as anywhere except for trail rides.the ATV rides, the aquarium and other activities. Meaning public pools, parks, malls. It's safe enough here to let them go in the shopping centers, and other public places. Be aware that some places may have an age limit. to be alone. For trail rides I suggest Piiholo ranch. Go to: Mauiactivities.net and go through the tabs at the top of page. Aloha
