What is the best luau on the Big Island of Hawaii?

Best islands in Hawaii resorts & activities ?

  • Ok so I know this is a bit ahead of time but my family wants to go to Hawaii in the new year for vacation ...lol and No I do not believe in that 2012 crap !! anyways that's another topic so back to the point lol Last time we went we did go to Maui but a lot of us were young and didn't get too much excitement from the trip other than swimming and enjoying the gorgeous island , my Mom says they should have taken us to Oahu or Honolulu because theirs a lot more things to do. I hear many good things about Kauai ! Basically what we want to do is go to a luau like dinner shows with the hula dancers and enjoy the sun ...also take up surfing lessons that's a big must do for us and like zip lining just good fun filled activities ! If anyone could give me some information on where to go, what to do, and resorts/hotels etc. I would really appreciate it since its been a few years since we have went . Thank You Very Much :)

Well, you can certainly do all those things....luau, surfing, zip-lining, on Kauai, but you can also do all those things on Maui and the Big Island, as well. Oahu has one zip-line, but I would have to say that it is not up to par with those available on Kauai, Maui, or the Big Island...and the Big Island only has one. The best two luaus in the state, IMO, are the ones offered at the Polynesian Cultural Center (Oahu) and Old Lahaina Luau (Maui). If you end up going to Kauai, Smith's is the island's best. Which island you eventually settle on will depend on what else you desire. Nightlife? Honolulu/Waikiki. Scenery? Each island offers something different to see and appreciate. Volcano activity? Big Island. Get away from the crowds? Kauai, Big Island. Depending on how long you plan on being in Hawaii, perhaps hitting a couple of islands might work for you. I would allow a minimum of 4-days on any one island, longer on the Big Island. I invite you to check out my website at www.myhawaiionline.com to get a feel for what each of the islands has to offer. I don't pretend to suggest that it is 100% complete, but enough that you can make a choice of which island would probably have what you're wanting. Check out the "islands" section first, then the "special places" section next. Have a great vacation!

Sounds like maybe you should go to the Big Island. We just came back from there - fantastic!! Go to your library and get some Hawaii travel guides to help you decide which island to go to. There are also many, many on-line travel guides that will help. Just do a search.
