Finding a Bartender Job?

Being a bartender in Hawaii?

  • i am really thinking about becoming a bartender and was wondering if that would be a good idea to do in Hawaii? I am not 21, but am 20 but i can still go to bartending school and get certified, but will my age be a problem when finding a job? do they make good money there? would i make enough to support myself and have my own place? and are there haole bartenders there? im haole and grew up in hawaii i have been on the mainland for a few years and im dying to go back home, im just not too familiar with the bartending scene there so and help would be great!

  • Answer:

the island of Oahu would be your best bet in finding a job, but no, by itself, it wouldn't be enough to get more than a crappy apartment in one of the worst parts of Honolulu. and since we're in a recession, there's even less chance than usual to find a job, since bartending is a service industry, and that's all anyone who doesn't have a degree does in Hawaii for work, there's even less chance of finding a job in that department. you can try, but don't place all your winnings on that horse pal, have a backup plan if it doesn't work out.
