Where do Kona winds come from? (Hawaii)?
-
I know that trade winds come from the NE but I can't seem to find much information about Kona winds. People typically say that they come from the opposite direction of trade winds but I've come across conflicting information. Here's 2 sites that say the opposite thing: Southwest: http://www.hawaii-aloha.com/blog/2008/06/05/about-hawaiis-trade-winds/ Southeast: http://www.hawaiiguide.com/weathe1.htm If anyone knows an answer, that would help! Thanks (:

Answer:
Kona Winds are typically out of the southwest. Here's a more authoritative sight, the Pacific Disaster Center, rather than a tourist info site: /www.pdc.org/iweb/high_wind.jsp?subg=1
