Which is better way to experience Hawaii?

Is there volunteer work I can do in Hawaii that'll offer free food & housing with no fees for me to pay?

  • I'm willing to work up to a year so once I've learnt the ropes I'll be able to contribute meaningfully. I'm interested in working outdoors. My education, experience and skills are unfortunately pretty useless in Hawaii so volunteer work's the only way I can see myself staying in Hawaii for so long without spending much money.

  • Answer:

I've never done it but I've read about something called WWOOFing. Basically it's working on an organic farm in exchange for room and board. Check out http://wwoofhawaii.org/ for more info.

Nope. Sorry, But Hawaii is REALLY expensive, not just the travel cost. Maybe you could apprentice someone? Trust me it's not cheap. Yu might find a place to rent, but not likely on the water, So I'm sorry. Aloha

There's one way. It's called jail. Otherwise, no, there are plenty of people out of work who would gladly volunteer for even just the food while they live with friends or relatives. You're out of luck.
