Is it cheaper to book activities at hawaii on the net or book it when I get there?
-
I will be going to Hawaii soon and would like to know, would it be better to book activities on the net so should I book it like at a tourist information center there? I checked out some sites like www.hawaiiactivities.com and they have alot of activities that you can book although friends who have been there ages ago say to book it there. I will be staying at ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel. Can people who have been to Hawaii or live in Hawaii, tell me which is the better way to book activities? I believe my friend also said that coupons are used alot there? Is coupons used alot if you booked activities over there? Thankyou

Answer:
I think you should wait until you arrive in Hawaii to book any activities. Most hotels have an activity desk (if yours doesn't, you can use one at just about any hotel) and the people who work there tend to be very knowledgeable about the activities they offer. There are several different excursions, for example, to Hanauma Bay for snorkeling. Some are better than others. I visited Hawaii many times before I moved here and I never reserved anything in advance. If you have to put money down to secure your spot, it's a bad idea to book ahead of time. What if you get here and decide that you aren't all that interested in a guided snorkeling trip (again, for example) because you saw plenty of fish when you were swimming around at the beach the day before? Then you're stuck. Narrow it down to 2 or 3 activities you REALLY want to do, then talk to people about them. Other hotel guests, the people at the activity desks, etc. You will get a feel for what people think of certain activities and you will be able to decide for yourself which ones are the most worthwhile. A tip: don't spend ALL of your time in Hawaii occupied with activities! There is a lot to do here, but make sure you have plenty of time to sit on the beach, relax on the lanai of your hotel room with a drink, etc. If you rush around every day you won't really *see* much of anything and your trip memories will all be a blur! Take time to savor the islands -- the tradewinds, the smell of plumeria in the air, the friendliness and warmth of the people you meet. Those will be the lasting treasures you take home with you. Aloha! :)

i was in Hawaii over Christmas and i found that using the expedia desk in the hotel was easier to book our activities,as they can answer any questions you have, and you can book all your activities at the same time. i did use some coupons, but not alot, because i don't keep track of them.
