In metro Detroit, when are the fall leaves beautiful and mostly still on the trees?
-
My fiance and I are getting married next year. Everything is going to be fall colors - the bridesmaids will wear crimson and burnt orange, the flower girl will throw fall leaves instead of flower petals, the centerpieces will be fall foliage, etc. We were planning to have it in an atrium so the trees with all their beautiful leaves will be all around us. Anyway, the original date we set was October 3rd, but I look outside and still mostly see green everywhere! Our photographer is booked on the 17th, so we have to choose either the 10th or the 24th. I want everything to be red and orange and yellow outside, but I also still want the leaves to be ON the trees at least as much as they are on the ground... and I don't want snow! Which date do you guys think would be a better bet for the kind of thing we're looking for? Thanks!

Answer:
i would definitely shoot for the 24th. The fall colors come anywhere from Late october to middle of november. Just depends on the area. Michigan weather is highly unpredictable, so it all varies i guess. Good luck on the wedding though! im sure it will be amazing

Michigan weather is so unpredictable.... I got married November 6th & the temps hit low 70's... I do remember my cousing getting married in the Lansing area outdoors like you're suggesting mid-october. I'd go the 24th & keep my fingers crossed :-) Good luck & congratulations.

In the midwest, most trees aren't really looking good until November. There will still be a few leaves hanging onto trees in early December, so set the date before then. You won't have to worry about snow most places until around Christmas. Bottom line, pick the 24th, or even later.

I would try for the 24th. It's really hard to predict Michigan weather, but I know towards the middle of Oct., around the Sterling Heights area, the leaves start to change. Good Luck! And Congrats!

I'd have to guess October 24th the weather and fall colors in Detroit area are sometimes a crap shoot on the actual date of peakiness it doesnt really matter how the event looks- its the marriage that counts

With Michigan you can never tell. Usually the end of October is the best time for autumn colors...just keep in mind the later the date, the higher the risk of snow. My parents were married on October 25 and had a few flurries.

I have trees all down my street and they usually turn all through october. I guess the best time would be later this month, like right around halloween time. I always rake the leaves near that day. So from now til halloween is the best time.
It's me B!tCHes!!!
The later one.
