  • Answer:

According to Career Cruising, the site many HS Career Counselors in Michigan use: U of M's admissions "Entrance Difficulty: Very Difficult - More than 50% of all freshmen were in top 10% of their high school class and scored over 1230 on SAT or over 26 on ACT; about 60% or fewer of all applicants accepted. " MSU and Western are listed a "Moderately Difficult". Here are the major differences between MSU and Western: Western Michigan University = Suburban, Cost = $24,773 (out of state) Michigan State University = Urban, Cost = $31, 081 (out of state) U of M and MSU are both very good schools, but Western is good too. U of M and MSU are have swimming & diving, but Western does not...if you're planning to dive in college. There are lots of fun things to do in both Ann Arbor and East Lansing. Yes, the weather in Michigan is cold in the winter and hot and humid in the summer. If you're here in the winter you will need warm clothes (heavy coat, gloves, scarf, boots, etc.) College classes rarely cancel due to wintery conditions, but it happens occasionally. I would also recommend the University of Toledo, just a few miles south of the MI border. They offer a BS in Biochemistry and NCAA Div 1 swimming and diving. Out of state tuition is approximately $25,658, but you could probably getting a diving scholarship from them. They also have a REALLY good internship program.

you could get into u of M easily with that, they have one of the best medical programs in the world also, wayne state has an excellent medical program, but its located centrally in detroit, and they have lower standards than that of U of M.

University of Michigan is a horrible university for studying the sciences. They are more interesting in weeding you out and making your life hell. Go anywhere but there.
