Tomorrow i have the choice to go to either the Science Center or the DIA for my birthday. I have been to the DIA twice and liked it, and my family hasnt, so id like them to see it. But i also want to see what the science center is like. So how is it? Should i go there tomorrow/?

Answer:
If you can, do both. If you have to choose, I suggest you go to the Science Center. The DIA is also a good place to go. It's a lot more sophisticated, as someone else already said. I'm not going to go into it, since you've been there already... Much as I love the DIA - an art museum is an art museum. I am a non-science person, but I love the Science Center. It's all hands-on, and there's a lot of interesting things to see/do. There's also a bunch of fun shows you can see. The one is on electricity, and is straight forward from the entrance (I highly recommend it). There's also an area that looks like a large pit (can't miss it), with step-like seats. They have shows there on the solar system, and I forget what else. The only problem I have with the Science Center is seeing adults who thing they're above "kid's stuff", so they stand around bored. Go and have fun! ... Also, if you have a young kid going with you (about 5 and under), make sure to check out the room that's geared toward that age group. It's off in the corner of the building, kitty-corner to the entrance. It's great for the little ones (and even fun for the adults with them). Happy birthday!

I enjoy the DIA a bit more because it is more "grown up". The Detroit Science Center has a lot of hands on science equipment. The DSC is a bit more fun for kids. Although everyone love the IMAX theater.

I haven't been to the DIA but I can comment on the DSC. You don't give your age, but I have found, honestly, that other than the IMAX theatre, which often has something interesting showing, and the special exhibits they bring in (i.e. like the "Bodies" one they recently had), the Science Center doesn't really offer much. There as some experimental things for children dealing with the senses, etc., but unless I am missing a whole lot somewhere, not much other than what I've mentioned. Check their website, tho, to see if they have any special exhibits in and what might be playing at the IMAX, as usually those things are worth it.

It was fun when I went to the Science Center.

Both are fun, DSC is def. more for the younger set. Check out the DIA, again-- as others have said, it's more mature and better architecture and overall atmosphere. However, the DSC is nice if you are looking into viewing something at the IMAX theatre.
