What's the best way to get to Northwestern University?

How can i get to university of michigan (Ann Arbor) from DTW airport?

  • hello all.... i will be flying to detroit for an interview at the university of michigan. I don't drive... so whats the best way to get from the airport to the university? it's about 25 miles away. Are there any buses? how much does taxi cost? any other options? thanks

    I would google "Detroit Metro Airport shuttle service" and look at the shuttle options. Right off, I see the first one has service to Ann Arbor for between $45.00 (east AA) and $55.00 (west AA). When I've taken airport shuttles (albiet in Florida), they have dropped me off right at the requested address; check on this, though, because some have a central drop-off point in a City and you won't likely want that. I would think a taxi would cost you more than that but can't say for sure. Worth looking into, though. To my knowledge, there's no regular bus service to/from the airport to/from Ann Arbor.

I'm not aware of any buses, although if you're staying in a hotel near your interview, you may have some luck calling them and asking if they offer pick-up shuttle service from the airport. It looks like far for a cab would be about $77 one way. You could order a sedan too from Metro Cars (link below), but they will likely be more expensive. I think a cab would probably be easiest, if your hotel doesn't have a shuttle. Good Luck on your interview!

I would suggest catching a taxi at the airport because I don't think there are any shuttles that go to the university.

Take the light rail system... Oh wait we don't have one, sorry Michigan is a backwards state, guess you just have to catch a cab. When you do just make sure your driver heads west on I-94, and not east. Drivers sometimes take advantage of tourist as is the case with every airport...
