Any spring break places within 3 hours from Philly?

What are some great places to visit for spring break about a 5 hours or less drive away from Detroit?

  • Me and a few of my friends aren't going to Mexico or anywhere special for spring break so we figured we would take a road trip. We are looking for places within about a 5 or 6 hours drive from Detroit that would be good for us to visit. We are more keen on things to see in the wilderness, like great places to camp, to hike or bike ride or simply just great places to see.

    Northern Michigan is beautiful and about the right distance away for what you're looking for. Petosky, Harbor Springs, Gaylord, Charlevoix, all very nice and different in their own ways. Mackinaw Island (pricey) allows only bicycles, no cars; just not sure what is considered the "season" there and when the ferry runs.

Go downtown to Greektown for different and great restaurants. Go over to Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum.

It's a little bit cold for camping up north yet. However, you could probably get some good off-season rates at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City. From there, you could spread out and see a lot of the north country. I think it's near the end of April when Kalkaska has the National Trout Festival, which is the kickoff to the spring/summer festival season up here. Or, you could go to the UP, specifically the Tahquamenon Falls State Park. As I said before, it may be a bit cold for camping, but at least you'll be able to see the falls and hike around in the park. Also, if you're so inclined, and old enough to partake, you can't throw a dead skunk in the air up here without it landing on an Indian casino. There's Bay Mills, near Brimley; Kewadin, in Sault Ste. Marie and St. ignace; Odawa, in Petoskey: and Leelanau Sands and Turtle Creek (the last is where I work- shameless plug) near Traverse City. As one of the other joints says, "Come on up."

Still a little cold for camping. It's not wilderness but Niagera Fall would be fun. Lost to do an see. Not what your looking for but still good, Chicago or Toronto are about 5 hours away. Both great cities to visit.

There's a lot to do downtown (greektown, the DIA, and lots of other museums), go to Chicago, the Kellogs plant on Battle Creek, go to Windsor, there is a brewery that you can tour but i forget the name, or cedar point, or you could go up north, caseville is a nice quiet town in the thumb. or you could go to the Great Wolf lodge, or Frankenmuth and get chicken and christmas decoration and stay at the bavarian inn and play put-put and use the indoor pools
