Do you think Obama's stimulus bill will help Michigan develop into an alternative energy State?

And help Michigan become independent from the auto industry? Do you think Michigan is a good state for wind and solar power as an alternative to polluting Coal burning and, dangerous Nuclear energy? What other resources do you think Michigan could have to it's advantage, that it has not taken advantage of yet to recover into a prosperous state once again?

Answer:
No, I think every State will focus on the same jobs, driving up the costs of materials No, autos are here for the short term unless the "panel' forces a change. Yes, Michigan is great for wind if you look at the State's wind map. Now, I hope they don't place turbines like those near the shore in Mackinaw City. Solar decreases some in winter but is still 70 percent efficient. Both would make good replacement for coal. Not sure I agree about nuclear being dangerous now that rods have been replaced by ceramic balls. Not sure, but have a bad feeling about lithium batteries unless more is found in US. Film industry may trade one union for another. Oakland County appears to be betting the farm on hospitals and healthcare even though both need a major overhaul.

How about WATER???? Think about the Detroit River and the amount of unharnessed energy that flows right through Detroit every day. I've been saying for some time now that Michigan's future lies in alternative energy.

Most people have not even looked into the stimulus bill. They are too obsessed with Obama and just nod their heads and go along with anything he says. Sorry, I would answer but I haven't looked into the effects on Michigan. I live in Virginia. But by what I have caught on to, I do not believe Michigan could become independent in the auto industry, but you do have a point made in that Michigan is a good state for "natural" power and alternative resources.

Alternative energy will never take the place of the auto industry (if it can last), but it will be a healthy supplement. There's already a successful wind farm in the Thumb. And Skittles on the right track with harnessing water power. I don't see why Michigan can't do it... All we need is the proper enthusiasm and backing to make that step (both are in short supply, unfortunately). Good question.

We got about 2 mil for road construction...if you're a civil eng. then this is a good place to stay if you're thinking of leaving. In the next few years we're going to see things starting to flourish again. They are also trying to get cruise ships to dock at the Detroit river, my husband's firm is currently working on that project. Its in the very begg. stages but its a-coming (u can thank Kwame for that one).
