Camping in Rocky Mountain National Park is fun, and you are likely to see a lot of animals like deer, elk, and big horn sheep. There is a six flags, Elitch Gardens. the 16th street mall in denver is awesome, so is the flat iron mall in boulder. if you want to see nature, head to estes park. rocky mountain national park is there, and the stanly hotel (where they filmed the shining)

There is a six flags right downtown. My favorite thing int he summer is whitewater rafting which is not too far from the city. Of course there are the things you mentioned plus mountain biking. Rocky mountain national park is great and there is a big rodeo called the Greely stampede as well. Also Coors Field is great to catch the rockies. There are a couple trains; Silverton line is an old locomotive, there is also a more modren train the goes right through royal gorge
