Is University a nice neighborhood in Denver?

I am thinking about going to the University of Denver to obtain my master's degree. Is University a nice neighborhood? I am married, and we prefer walkable neighborhoods with lots of restaurants and other entertainment options. We also like live music and my wife is into art. Is University the neighborhood for us?

Yea it's okay, but check out areas around S. Pearl and/or S. Gaylord St. Really nice wackable down to earth neighberhoods... Close to D.U. too

The DU area is a nice safe neighborhood. The Old South Gaylord Area is close to DU and is fun and has some art galleries. Again not too far from DU is Swallow Hill Music Association. There are some good restaurants near DU and more on Colorado Blvd. There is a Whole Foods not too far away on Washington.

DU area is pretty safe. CU Boulder area is pretty safe too... and it's better for art, music, and other entertainment.
