Is Colorado a good place to live?
-
I mean, I'm only 13 haha! I know I'm too young to be thinking about this but.....I dunno, something about colorado just caught my eyes......See, i have this thing about bears and wolves, i just love them! they're my favourite animals in the world and I have always wanted to be one. I live in Australia and I have always like cold places, like- our school went on a trip to canberra (capital city) and we got a chance to go to the snowy mountains. and his for me was a HUGE privilege because this was going to be the first time in my life that i could touch snow! and when that day came, and everybody was ona train through a mountain (kinda scary tunnel) I was feeling SUPER SYKED!! I was jumping all around the train lol, and when we got to the station on the other side, chilled air just hit me! i knew we were close and we turned a corner and there it was- smack bang- in front of our eyes! I couldn't hold back lol! i just ran straight for it! everyone was digging in it and throwing snowballs, climbing to the mountain to go tobogoning! it was really fun haha! and that was my first time touching it and thats how i started to like cold places, after that i begged dad after and after if we could go to new zealand cause they have epic mountains too! then dad gave in haha! so we went there it was totally radical! then i kept buging dad if we could go again and again but finally dad just said "Hey....why don't you save up some money for one your older...then build a house there, find a guy you would like to spend the rest of your life with and have a family....and there are tones on jobs you can apply for, eh?" I was like :O.....OK!! :D *ran to computer* then i googled "beautiful and peaceful places to live" and i got colorado!! I've been addicted to it ever since! i can't stop talking about it, if our techers asked us "what place do you want to go in the world" I just kept repeatably saying "COLORADO! COLORADO!!" haha! and well.... I wanted to ask really: What's it like living in colorado? Is it nice and quiet haha? is it cool somedays and warm others? Does it cost a lot to live there? I really want to join the army and earn heaps of money (also serving my country, can't forget that >:D) then find a really good place preferably in the mountains haha like in the tree's and my backyard is some plains of grass lol! that's the only art painting i do! >XD i just draw where i want to live, it's basically my one life goal lol! Sorry for the random canberra story and incy bitsy part of my random life but is it a good place to live? or are there...............OTHER places that are cold and warm and full of awesome animals and have grass plains and epic mountains and are peaceful (not much people) and beautiful? heheheee >;]

Answer:
Sorry to burst your bubble, but we don't have wolves. =( We do have moose, and elk, and bears, and fox, and whatever else you can imagine though! Colorado's a great place to live, there's something for everyone. Summers are great, really warm, not humid, you can mountain bike, hike, camp, rock climb, wakeboard, jet ski, boat, etc., etc. And of course, winters here are AMAZING. Tons of great mountains, great snow. Obviously places like Aspen and Vail are quite expensive, but for the most part, it's pretty cheap to live here. People are really friendly and relaxed, it has a relatively low crime rate, and has the lowest obesity rate in the nation. I'd definitely recommend living here =)

Colorado is known as Colorful Colorado, and I do agree it is colorful during the Fall. Colorado has many things you can do, if you like outdoors a lot. Fishing, Hiking around the Rocky Mountains. There are even hot springs here in Colorado. I've been to one. It is really nice. Colorado is amazing, it also has this change of mood because Colorado is BI-polar hahahaha. Some areas are really nice and quiet, areas like downtown, is like another version of NYC but without the LOTS OF TALL BUILDINGS plus flat screen T.V. hanging onto buildings. There are many things in Colorado! But it's up to you to find which parts you like best and where you want to live plus where to go and have fun!
Q's&A's
Colorado is a pretty big state so everything depends on the area of Colorado :) The eastern half of the state is plains...very flat and mostly farming communities. Denver is just east of the Rockies - it is still pretty flat there but you can see the mountains. It is a pretty good city and not my favorite part of Colorado. Boulder is right at the edge of the mountains, its a very cool, artsy, creative type town with lots of outdoorsy people as there is so much to do outdoors there- mountain biking, hiking, climbing, etc. Fort Collins is in Northern Colorado with the eastern part being more plains and then just to the west the foothills and mountains..its a really nice town and the Red Feather Lakes area is really pretty- about 40 minutes northwest. I have seen bears near Boulder a couple of times, but never any wolves. More wolves in Montana. Actually you might look into Montana as well, it is EXTREMELY beautiful there and there are less people, with some areas less expensive than Colorado, and more wildlife too. Take a look at Bozeman, Livingston, Missoula, Red Lodge, Kalispell. Back to Colorado, lots of beautiful mountain towns- although they are usually really expensive (Aspen, Breckenridge, etc). Leadville is a really cool town (ha, literally cool as the elevation is 10,000 feet) and it is less expensive and right in the middle of the mountains...beautiful!! Cripple Creek and Victor are places I love as well, in the middle of mountains and a lot cheaper than the ritzy ski resort towns. Colorado weather- sunny 300+ days a year, very dry..of course it snows a lot in the mountains but doesn't feel as cold as other places as its so dry. In the Denver/Ft Collins area it doesn't snow as much and when it does the sun usually melts it pretty quickly. Summers are warm and dry with some thunderstorms in the afternoon (which I love). Colorado is definitely one of my favorite states, I lived there for over 10 years and loved it... I just moved to the Oregon coast though as I missed the ocean too much- but now I do miss a lot about Colorado- especially the snow!
