How is the weather in Denver throughout the month of October?

  • I have a month-long business trip planned for October of this year. How is the weather in Denver during the month of October? Does it start getting really cold? Or does it stay nice and warm? Is it rainy? Does it ever start snowing? I've never been to Colorado before. I'm kind of puzzled because Denver is located where mountains meet prairies. I don't know how that would affect the weather during the fall. What is the typical weather pattern in Denver throughout October? How should I prepare myself?

    By this time it will be getting a bit chilly. The weather gets a bit unpredictable. You may start the day off thinking it will be cold, only to find yourself sweating in a light jacket by noon. And the exact opposite can happen too. If you're looking for an "average" temperature for Denver maybe somewhere between 50-60F. Because Denver is a major city it is a heat trap, but often by the end of October it will be snowing lightly, or at the very least keep threatening to do it. Colorado likes snowing on Halloween, but snow in October usually doesn't amount to more than two or three inches. Rain is unlikely to be a problem. Bring clothes that are good for layering. Coloradan weather is very fickle and changes, so it's good to wear layers that you can strip off or add to during the day.

Belie nailed it. You aren't likely to need boots and a parka (unless you want to drive up into the mountains), but there really no predicting it. This past year was really warm (60+ on most days), and no snow in October in the city. Most years we'll see a little storm come through and leave a couple inches that melts by morning. Then you'll be in short sleeves on the patio by that afternoon. Layers.

Just keep watching the weather reports before you come out is my best suggestion for Denver. Our weather is so unpredictable here. Our winter this year was very warm, we have maybe 2 weeks of cold weather. Right now we are in the 60 degree weather and last year we were having snow storms.

your best bet is to stay the hell away from denver. we don't take kindly to out of towners. understood?

It's been kinda warm these few years but usually it's around 60°F ish and starts to get a little chilly especially during the nights. It's usually not rainy in october but there could be a little flurries around the end of the month but no big snow storms or anything. Idk how you should prepare for yourself cause I'm a colorado native and us CO Native kids wear hoodies when it's 10° outside, but I guess you wouldn't need much more than a hoodie unless you're from a really hot place that never goes under 50°.
