What are the best areas of Denver Metro? Relocating soon with family...?

Looking at Castle Rock, Littleton, and Highlands Ranch. What about Brighton, Parker, and Lakewood? Any other areas that would be good for young kids and offer opportunities in the arts and along with good recreation facilities?

Answer:
Ok, so it kind of depends on what you're looking for. I mean, Highlands Ranch is pretty up-scale at the moment, (or most of it is anyway) but I really think it's going to decline in the next decade or so as it was really a fad-type place in the past 12 years or so. That's totally speculation, but I really see it happening. And Castle Rock is pretty nice, but farther away from Denver. No big deal but commuting to down-town Denver would be killer. I think that's true for Brighton and Parker also (especially Brighton- I-25 is brutal!) I'm not a fan of Parker, but mostly just because it's further away from the main city AND the mountains. That's a double whammy in my opinion! Parts of Lakewood are great, but parts are a bit scary. So you just have to check it out first. I actually think that Lakewood and Littleton would have the best exposure to the arts, but I say that tentatively. You can find it in those other places too, and well, you're guaranteed to find the arts is just by heading into downtown. Littleton is really great (totally where I've lived my whole life!) But I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend Golden and Morrison. Especially Golden! It's great for families and it does have a few extra-mountain type activities closer than those other cities. But don't worry about the recreation facilities and all! Denver has the best recreation facilities in the country (I'm a parks and rec student!) You find awesome rec centers around every corner, not to mention unlimited activities waiting in the foothills and mountains. Well, beyond that, welcome to Colorado, glad to have you on your way!

as a child I live in Aurora, Westminster, and Lakewoood (Bear Valley) Aurora was the best of all the places and I had a friend who lived in Wheat Ridge and that is a nice area also I dont care for Lakewood or Englewood area at all if I was to move back to Colorado thought I wouldnt choose the Denver area Id want to live in Pikes Peak or somewhere really cozy in the Rocky Mountains. But if you want the Denver area Id suggest Aurora, Wheat Ridge or Westminster. and I just thought of another nice area Arvada I used to love to go to chuck e cheese on Ralston Road there is a lot of fun stuff to do on that street!

For you an artist Denver is your best bet . Castle Rock , Parker I hate it . I live there .I been wanting to relocate back to Denver . Lakewood is somewhat crime haven . Littleton and Highlands Ranch are right next to each other . It is a conservative upper middle class neighborhoods . Denver Cherry Creek area is a good area . Between 1st and Alameda Ave upper to middle class neighborhoods . Very diverse and artistic . Upscale part of the city so is downtown denver

I live in Castle Rock. Relocated here from Jersey almost 20 years ago. We love it here. Friendly people, great schools, churches and shopping. We are a real town, not a giant subdivision like Highlands Ranch. Last year we were voted one of the top 10 family friendly places to live by Family Circle Mag. http://www.townofcastlerock.org

Lakewood is ok I lived there for several years in a apartment there and we didnt have much of a problem but there was a lot of crime there that we didn't know about. would recommend wheat ridge, arvada, or golden they are really nice cities and pretty friendly for the most part. Wheat Ridge has a nice park that has plenty of bike paths and stuff. I live in wheat ridge now and dont want to move anywhere esle. Arvada and Golden are really amazing cities also. i would check them out. if you live in jefferson county westernaires is a GREAT opportunity for your children if they are into horses. its the cheapest horse organization i know of most places cost $50 or more to ride for an hr and it only cost $10. ive been in it for 7 years and love it. its for kids 9-19 to ride and graduate all the way thru, or if your child is to young to ride we have the clowns where the learn little skits and perform in parades and shows. we perform all over the states and really have a good time. Here is a site to learn more on the organization www.westernaires.com

Castle Rock is a nice place, lots of new developments and shops. Lived there with my bf for a few months. Littleton is ok, I've lived there, it was fine but I'm not moving back. Highlands Ranch. Hate it. Bought house there with bf and felt surrounded by stuck up jerks. Area is nice, hate the people. Brighton seems nice, don't know much about it, little far out for me. Parker is ok. Same page as highlands ranch though. Lakewood is really big. Some parts are wonderful, others not so great. If you stay closer to the golden, wheat ridge part of lakewood, its my favorite. When I grew up, where I am now, I love it. Best of luck to you!
