What's the best place to fish in Mammoth Lakes area?

Whats it like in Colorado Springs?

• That's mine and my husbands next duty station, we'll be arriving there Mar. 15th of this yr. The type of things I wanna know is; Hows the weather, are there any canyons or lakes in the area, things to do entertainment wise, how are the people....(hospitable or stand offish)....and is it a good place to raise children, also are there any health food stores or vegan type stores in the area? Please and thank you. :D

  VERY Conservative, VERY patriotic, VERY fundamentalist Christian. Canyons and lakes? no. Not right there...you're on the plains, but some of the suburbs go into the mountains...lakes there. No real canyons. But there's great rock formations: Garden of the Gods, etc. Good hiking in there. Weather? Not as cold as you might think...the latitude is about the same as the Carolinas. Things to do? don't go out to bars when the boys come back...I hear it's, like, testosterone central right now, as many of the soldiers/flyboys have recently returned from tours. Lots of fights, etc. Yes, there are health food/vegan stores. Whole Foods, Sunflower Markets, Vitamin Cottage, and a couple of other large chains have stores there, and King Soopers has a pretty good selection of Organics and specialty foods. Good place to raise kids? I guess, there are a lot of families there. Hospitable? yeah, if you line up with the neighbors religiously and politically. They can ostracize those that they disagree with, though.
