Possibly moving from Los Angeles to Texas around the Dallas-Fort worth area any advice?
-
My husband and I were both born and raised In California and we love it here, but the problem is the cost of living is so high were having trouble raising are son here and purchasing a home that's big enough for us. My husband has been given an opportunity to move us to the Dallas-Fort worth area in Texas for a higher position with his employer. So we are thrilled because of course this means finally being able to afford a bigger home and the cost of living will be more affordable. If my husband takes this position it would mean leaving behind all are family and friends (possibly my mother may tag along with us) and everything we know. We love LA but we want to focus on raising our son In a better school and away from all the downsides of living in LA. Any advice on what else i should consider before making such a huge decision? My husbands new job will be in Wilmer,TX he doesn't care about living a bit far from work we are after all use to LA traffic. If We do move We are looking into either purchasing a family home either in Fort worth, Arlington or Dallas. Any Suggestions?

Answer:
If schools are a factor, I would not look in Dallas or Fort Worth, I would look in more of the northern suburbs, though some of the south and south eastern ones are not bad. But mostly..try to stay out of DISD.

Wilmer and Hutchens have had some very bad press stories about their school districts. I live in the center of Dallas and hate rush hour, so I would avoid living north of downtown to get to south. Traffic on I20 is fairly bad during the rush hour. I like DART a lot and would look inside the Dallas city limits on the southwest side to get access to it, but others of your ilk will probably scream at that, so you might look at Desoto, Lancaster, and other areas west of Wilmer.

try arlington, euless, around there like the other guy said stay out of DISD and FWISD, but HEBISD is the best (hurst,,euless, bedford, isd)
