What are some good vacation spots in Ohio during september?

  • Me and my family were planing to go to seven springs this september but they raised the prices alot. Does anyone know another vacation spot to go to in september in Ohio?

    Check out Mohican State Park. The cottages there are reasonably priced, especially during the week. The area has excellent family canoeing; boat rentals on Pleasant Hill Lake; and good hiking and biking. You could visit nearby Malabar Farm State Park, perhaps for a farm wagon tour. Or check out the heart of Ohio Amish Country in nearby Holmes County. A favorite destination in the area is the Ohio Reformatory in Mansfield. The Wilds in Zanesville is a great place to visit on a cool afternoon in September, when the absence of hot weather will result in the animals being more active. The Wilds is one of the largest animal preservation centers in the U.S. The Dayton area would offer the U.S. Air Force National Museum. This museum is massive and exceptionally well done, yet admission is free. See the first airplane at Carrilon Historical Park, part of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. Visit Huffman Prairie Flying Field, where the first airplane was perfected and first flown. Nearby Dayton is the King's Island amusement park. Have a good vacation!

Seven Springs is getting out of control price wise. Ever since Nemacolin Woodlands opened, 7-Springs has been trying to "yuppie" themselves. I think they are going the wrong direction, they used to be a great family resort that most people could afford. Now that the new owner has it, yikes! they even took out the coffee shop that had great, reasonably priced food. Another resort you could look into is Oglebay Park in Wheeling WV. They have a great lodge, 2 golf courses, horseback riding, a small lake with paddle boats and fishing, a driving range, par 3 golf, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and restaurants. For a family, they also have very nice cabins that you can rent.

For the kids, nothing beats taking them to Cedar Point or to Kings Island. Both of these are amusement parks and resorts. You can also visit the Cuyahoga National Park and ride the train, go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, or go visit the campus of OSU in Columbus. Ohio also abounds with state parks where you can fish, hike, camp, swim, go horseback riding, ride bikes, and so forth. There are cruises available on Lake Erie in the summer, for both adults and kids, as well as deep water fishing. Some of the charter boat companies also sail all the way across the lake to Canada. If you want to show your kids where the aviation industry began, try visiting Dayton and the Wright Brothers' home and shop. If you happen to be in Cleveland over the Labor Day weekend in September, you'll get a chance to see either the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds perform at the Cleveland International Air Show.

The Cleveland Air Show is a must see. Theres a Balloon A Fair about an hour away from Cleveland. (Ravenna Ohio) Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame is cool.
