Where to apply for a job at 14 in Louisville, KY?

Cincinnati or Louisville, and why?

  • I have a job offer in Louisville and another in Cincinnati. I'd be moving from central Kentucky. Here's my analyses, please chime in with which city you like best. CINCINNATI: I lived in Campbell Co., KY for 5 weeks on business in 2003. While this was just a "trial" period rather than prolonged residency, I REALLY liked what I saw of the Cincy/NKY region. I made more friends in the region in just five weeks than I have here in central KY in 16 years! Cincy has a plethora of arts, cultural, and nightlife to partake. I've always heard about how horrible and rude Buckeyes are; I haven't seen most of Ohio, but I thought the folks in this region were pretty nice. The thing? I thought most of Cincy proper was rather run-down and dirty looking. LOUISVILLE: lived there for 9 months, HATED it! Touts itself for Southern hospitality; who the hell are they kidding?!! The Highlands and Speed Art Museum are cool, though. Plus, since I already live in KY, it would be easier to move to L'ville.

Well I guess I'm the person to ask... I grew up in Campbell County, was there for about 20 yrs. I now live in Louisville and have been here for just under 10 yrs. When you lived in the Cincinnati area, you lucked out be residing in Campbell. I am biased, but believe it is the best place to live in that area... It sounds to me that you have more positive experiences in the Cincinnati areea that you do in L'ville. Personally, I will be returning to Cinci when my wife is done with Grad School. We moved down here about ten yrs ago for a job... Well, the job didn't work out (and thats a good thing) As it turned out, I made a bunch of cash in another business and don't work now. We have stayed here only because this is where my wife started her education and she is going to finish it here. Your right!!! L'ville SUCKS!!! Goto Cinci!!!! Your gonna get an answer from the BMWdriver.... He'll talk you into Cinci!!

I live in NKY. Independence to be exact in Kenton Cty. I love it here. I think this area has a lot more to offer then Louisville both cultural wise and economic wise. It seems as if you know all of the offerings of the rea so I am not going to go into them. Cincy property DT can be a little dicey. They are trying to revamp a lot of it but it takes time and money to get it where it needs to be. I personally like living in NKY because of how close we are to the city (20 min.) but still in the suburbs.I actually have the luxury of jumping on HWY 17/Madison Pike and take it stright into the city without having to get on the expressway. Too nice!! You might want to check the area out. You can buy more home in NKY and you would be closer to your Central KY residence. I have met a lot of people who have lived in Louisville and the conseses I get is that if people didn't grow up there, they really do not like it. I don't think I would want to live there. Good luck in your choice and if you decide on our area then let me be the first to say welcome!!

I may be biased, but I would recommend Cincy over Louisville every time. As for the rude Buckeyes, you have to remember Cincy is almost separated from the rest of Ohio. It like a whole other culture. And compared to Louisville, we Cincinnatians are the epitome of nice. Downtown is currently undergoing renovations, but there are several nice area suburbs and towns. And there is always something to do and somewhere to go in Cincy. You will have no problems meeting people if you move in.

LOL, Im getting a reputation in this section, I guess. LOL. I personally love Cincinnati. I grew up in Dayton, always really liked Cincy, and always knew that I wanted to live in Cincinnati, and moved down here right after college. So, that being said: Im not sure about the whole "rude Buckeye" thing. To be honest with you, the only people Ive ever heard say that are from Kentucky. As you know, there is always a bit of a rivalry between Ohio and KY, so I suspect this is just Kentuckians way of countering the whole redneck image Ohioans have of Kentucky (not saying thats the case one way or the other, its just stereotype, and it is what it is). Some of the downtown Cincy area is somewhat run-down. No doubt about it. But they are really starting to work to redevelop that area, and its looking more and more realistic. The new stadiums and the Underground Freedom Center being built has helped. Now they are talking about putting in a new streetcar system (looks like it has a fairly good chance of happening), a lot of new upscale condo complexes are being built downtown, and if they could finally get The Banks to happen, I suspect the combination of things will lead to a very much revived downtown area. As you said, Cincy has a great Arts scene, must more than normal for a city its size. And it has a ton of other fun things to do, from pro sports teams, to outdoor activities (nice state parks, canoeing, etc) within a short drive, to all the fun family activities (Kings Island, Zoo, various museums, The Beach, Great Wold Lodge, ATP Pro Tennis stop, etc). Schools are overall quite good as well, so its a great city to raise a family in. My experience in Lousiville is a little limited. I have spent some time there, and found it OK. Its a clean, but much smaller city. Yes, there is some horse racing, and a bat factory, but Im not a big gambler, and you can only watch them making bats so many times before you go to sleep. So its an OK place, but for me, the choice is a very clear Cincinnati. And from your experience, it sounds like it probabloy is a pretty clear choice for you as well.

Damn....dmb, tracelicious, bmwdriver....you all are on it!!! LOL! I have to agree with you! I am like trace....I live in NKY, but I work in Cincy, so I guess I'm from the "redneck" side of the river (that made me chuckle, bmwdriver!) I just don't think you can go wrong in this area. I'm not too familiar with Louisville. I was only there when my daughter & son played in sports tournaments, etc. (It was then that I got my first tattoo at Tattoo Charlies...) We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum. My son loves the skatepark there because it's open 24/7. When my daughter was in high school, she always thought she wanted to go to U of L. But when we went down there for a visit, we found it kinda boring & she decided to go to UK instead. Good luck on your decision!

Lousiville would be easier to move to but Cinci you are also familiar with. I say you move to Cinci and come join us in the Buckeye state. There are some nice suburbs that you could move to. Good luck no matter what you do.

Cincy is a great town. Follow your instinct. (It's better than instinct. It's an opinion you formed based on evidence you gathered yourself.)

I would say Louisville as I was born in Cincinnati and lived there for 8 years and my parents have always said it was the worst place I've lived in. I personally dont remember much as I was only aged between 0 and 8, but have since lived in Indianapolis, Dallas and Atlanta and theyve all been better. I think my favorite has been Indianapolis.

Unless you would be forced to move into the ghetto of cincy, there is no reason why you should choose louisville over cincy.
