Is DePaul University good?

DePaul University in Chicago?

  • Can anyone give me some feed back on this particular school? Im from Miami,fl im looking to relocate to a new city to finish up my junior and senior year at a university. I've checked out California State University (LA), Chicago State University, and University of Illinois at Chicago. But I hear they are all in the ghetto. I want to go to school in LA or Chicago. So whats the Night Life and school like?? Is DePaul a private catholic school, does it have a good diversity and is it in a bad neiborhood, and is it close to public transportation thats a must??

  • Answer:

U of I in Chicago is not in the "ghetto" at all. In fact, neither is Chicago State. I am more familiar with UIC and can tell you there is plenty for student life. They have built and opened new state-of-the-art dorms and there are new stores and restaurants in the area. It is near public transportation so you can really live anywhere in the city. DePaul is in Lincoln Park, which is a very expensive neighborhood. It is a good school too and there is also a lot for students to do in the area. The school seems diverse, but I think UIC is probably more diverse. Good luck in choosing.

I didn't go there but have been there a few times. It's a very beautiful campus if that helps.

Area in DePaul is THE place to be, if you're in your early 20's. if I can do it all over again, I'd live by DePaul campus and enjoy the college life to the fullest. but if you like typical 'close campus' style, with greek system etc, DePaul isn't for you.

University of Illinois-Chicago used to be in kind of an iffy area, but over the past few years it's developed a lot, and Halsted Street, where UIC is, now has lots of shops and restaurants. Also, it's not far from Little Italy, with dozens of amazing Italian restaurants. But DePaul - you couldn't ask for a better area of the city than DePaul. It's right in the heart of Lincoln Park, the nicest section of Chicago. The main public transport ("L") track runs right through it, and it's surrounded by some of the nicest and most exciting areas of Chicago, with dozens of terrific restaurants, coffee shops, stores, and not far from the lake. And it's a terrific school to boot. I don't think you'd go wrong with either one, but everyone seems to love DePaul.

I am a student @ DePaul and I love it. It is a private Catholic school. It is often rated the most diverse school in the nation. the push diversity and encourage it so much! There are campusus in the loop and lincoln park. Lincoln park is probably one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago. It has great nightlife too. Its also very young and up and coming. DePaul is amazing. Also it is very accessible to public transport. DePaul is most def not in the ghetto. The houses they are building sell for 2 million and up.
