Which college major would help me with Critical Thinking most?

Thinking of attending Columbia College in Chicago for photog.. help?

  • I'm 17 years old an a senior in high school in San Diego, California. I love learning more about photography...and I do well in taking shots so far as a beginner. I went to a college fair the other day and found out about Columbia College in Downtown Chicago... it's like an artsy school. It would be a great help if you can answer some questions for me since i didn't have time to ask them at the college fair..such as do you need a portfolio? do they check your grades from high school? is it better to transfer? what is the best way to save up money to go to this school? how much did you spend so far? should i just attend a local community college here in san diego to major in photography? & last but not least... since it is a private school, do you need a lot of experience about photography or is that fine since you'll learn about it anyway?

  • Answer:

You've selected a good place to learn graphic arts. Living in Chicago will not be cheap. Fees, books, equip, and rent are not cheap. You will have to figure out some of these things by yourself. Chicago is a center for advertising, and fine arts so there should be many part-time jobs to find until you graduate. We also have great locations to shoot...there are no mountains however, but the lake can look like the ocean. Why not contact them directly to find out some of the questions you have: http://www.colum.edu/Admissions/undergraduate.php
