Answer:
You could go to Macy's and dine in the Walnut Room. They have good food and are not too expensive. Tour the theater district (famous Chicago Theater sign is on State St). More shops are starting to come to State St. but nothing out of the ordinary really yet. You can also walk 2 blocks east and go to Millenium Park and see the lakefront. Although I suppose this all depends on what part of State St. you're talking about too?
