How do i get to six flags in il with a train or a bus?

  • I live in country club hills IL. and i'm trying to find a way to get to Six Flags Great America by anything but Walking or Having my Family drive. Ive been trying to look up Metra on google, but I'm having trouble? someone help me how to get there,

  • Answer:

Catch the Metra(Rock Island District Metra) at Tinley Park Station and take this train to the LaSalle Street Station downtown Chicago -OR- catch the Metra(Metra Electric District) at Homewood Station or Hazel Crest Station and take this train to the Van Buren Street Station or Millenium Station downtown Chicago. Then from the LaSalle Street Station or the Van Buren Street Station or Millenium Station walk or take the bus to the Chicago Union Station or the OgilvieTransportation Station, both CUS & OTS are downtown and about 3 blocks apart. From the Ogilvie Transportation Center take the Metra(Union Pacific North Metra) train to the Waukegan Metra Station and then take Pace Bus Route 565 to Great America Main Gate -OR- from the Chicago Union Station take the Metra(Milwaukee District North Metra) train to the Libertyville Metra Station then take Pace Bus Route 572 to Great America South Gate. All the routes, schedules, and fares for your Metra trains can be found at: http://www.metrarail.com and the Pace Bus info is at: http://www.pacebus.com and to travel between the Metra Stations in downtown Chicago you could walk(the longest distance is about 1 mile), or use the CTA bus or CTA 'L' Train combined with some walking or take a taxi cab. All the info you need for the Chicago Transit Authority-CTA bus & 'L' train can be found at http://www.transitchicago.com You will need to look at the various routes and schedules to see which are best for your plans. I know it sounds a little complicated but once you go to the transportation websites and see the maps it should become clear. Check the schedules carefully as they have am/pm times and weekdays/Sat.-Sun. trains & buses. Actually, there are even one or two more ways to go, BUT I believe the routes above are the best for you. Also Metra has a $7 weekend pass which is good for unlimited rides on Sat. & Sun. Also there is a student fare available with valid student I.D., check the Metra website under TICKETS.
