Can I rent a car from an airport rental booth without a ticket?

  • Hi, I am going to Boston and I want to rent a car for the weekend. I will arrive on friday, but I donot want to rent a car on my arrival. I will stay in an area near airport, and want to rent a car the next day. So, can I rent a car without a matching arrival/departure time (of my flight)? I want to rent a car from the airport because the other locations I search are very expensive.

Renting a car at the airport is more expensive than renting from a location in the city. The reason is that at the airport, you have to pay more taxes. Don't know where you've been looking, but whereever it is its wrong. You do not need a ticket to rent from the rental kiosk in the airport. Alot of area hotels have a rental car reps onsite that can do all the paperwork so you wouldn't have to travel back to the airport.

In most cases the airport rentals locations cost more than off site rentals. Check those rates again. If you go with Enterprise they will come to you. Check with discount travel sites like Expedia or Travelocity for cheap car rates. But to answer your question, the rental agency doesn't care how you got to the booth. They won't even ask about your flight tickets. All they care about is renting cars and earning revenue.

Many airports have specials ranging from $10.95 a day to much higher depending on the time of year and other factors. There is a higher Airport Tax on these rentals.
