Where should I live in Chicago?
-
I am moving to Chicago next month from AZ and do not know where to live. I am 26 years old and want to find a great place to live in or near the city. I will be working downtown near the Chicago Board of Trade and ideally would like to use public transportation if possible. I would also like to be around great nightlife and other young professionals. Can anyone recommend any good neighborhoods or even apartment condo complexes?

Answer:
Try Edgewater. It's on the far north side of the city but has tons of public transportation options (train and express buses) so you can be downtown in no time (It gets me there on most mornings in about 30-plus minutes). The rents are cheap (about $700-900 for a one or two bedroom), but if you're set on a condo there are lots of them up and down Sheridan road, many of them built within the last five years. There are new bars and restaurants popping up, but Edgewater is also close to Andersonville, which has lots of hip bars that aren't overrun by all of the "bro dudes" yet (those guys with the backwards baseball caps). There are new small theater companies, restaurants, etc. And as I said, there's lots of public transportation options around so if you wanted to go party in another part of the city, it's not hard to get to. Edgewater is diverse, is only steps from the lake and the bike/running path in the park. It's worth looking into.

I would say anywhere near the brown line from the Fransisco stop to the Loop.Western stop (lincoln Square is very nice area and has everything you need like grocery stores, parks, huge library, and more). If you want to be partying and that sort of thing near the Blue line Damen/North avenue stop(Wicker park there you have the whole nightlife thing but I think its a bit too pricey for that area). If you go near Wrigleyville/Lincoln Park theres alot to do but you will be living out of a shoe box :) unless you got the bling bling. Dont go to the South side past Cermak/22nd street or the West Side anything past I would say Western and do not go as far north as Loyola University/Rogers Park.

There are many area's. the loop, the south and west loop, the mag mile, river north, gold coast, streeterville, Lincoln park, many parts of the north and northwest sides, just to name a few

well you should live near a blue or red line. Those lines run 24 hours and the rest run until 1 or 2. Wicker park or logan square are so nice neighborhoods. They are northwest side. If you want to live close to Wrigley frield. Then you should move to lake view. It just depends what your into. Wicker park has alot of bars that are near each other.
