-
im from florida.. know NOTHING about public transportation. i need a hotel that is VERY close to a train station so i can get downtown.. im coming in from midway airport. preferably close to the airport so i dont get lost and miss my flight home.. but not necissary if there is easy access to a train. theres not many hotels with complementary airport shuttles near midway.. PREFERABLY under $100 the cheapest hotel but decent? any suggestions.. my main worry is getting around.. so near a train station is a must.. oh.. and theres bus' around? are they hard to ride and find your way around??

Hi I saw your original Q a couple of days ago and i thought that the best solution for your circumstances would be to find you a place in one of two suburbs: Oak Park or La Grange Since my internet skills still need work had trouble getting a hotel in La Grange proper so I went to Oak Park and found the Carleton Hotel at $159 & their motel which is right next to it at $113.00 http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-375068-carleton_of_oak_park-i Aside from the fact that Oak Park is a neat town to explore on foot ,the lodging is also located almost next to the CTA's Blue Line which will easily get you downtown Note: You are looking at the Blue line that is running almost due E/W Here's a map if you click on "the wests side "you will be able to locate the Oak Park station http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/maps/200806D.html One unexpected benefit of being by the Blue line is that if you get off at the Halstead stop and walk a couple of blocks north on Halstead you can get dinner at one of my favorite Greek restaurants in America :Greek Islands At the very least order the grilled octopus and the saganaki appetizers>OOOPA!!! http://chicago.metromix.com/restaurants/greek/greek-islands-greektown/136777/content Good luck

From Midway you can take the CTA Orange Line to the Loop and find a place there. Are you planning on just staying near Midway airport itself? There are several motels near Midway which I am sure would shuttle you to MDW, check for motels on Cicero Ave.

There are several hotels on the following site. Call to ask if they have an airport shuttle. Also ask the distance to the CTA Orange line. This will be your connection to the Loop...downtown Chgo: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=hotels+midway+airport+chicago&aq=2&oq=hotels+midway

The orange line train (follow the signs at the airport) runs to downtown from Midway. However, it doesn't run 24/7. Check out www.transitchicago.com for the schedule before you book a hotel. The website will also give you bus schedules and has a trip planner to help you get around. Using public transit is easy. There are CTA employees at the airport who are available for questions.
