You are a Chicagoan because you were born in Chicago and you lived in Chicago during the entire time in which your personality was developing and forming. By age six, even earlier, a person's personality has been formed. So, yes you qualify! Your heart is in Chicago! You are a Chicago Grrrrl!

It wouldn't matter if you were from there or here, people come to live in Chicago from all over the world. I won't tease your drawl. And you don't have to adjust to a new time zone.

You are American.

I guess it depends on how long you've lived in Texas as opposed to Chicago...and being Hispanic has little to nothing to do with being a Chicagoan. Being on the border Texas is 27% Hispanic, Illinois is only 10.9% Hispanic. Chicago is split pretty evenly at 30% white (Polish, Irish, Italian), African-American & Hispanic. My nephew was about six when he moved from Chicago to Indianapolis; he was born in Chicago but he spent most of his real time growing up in Indianapolis; I'm talking about going to school, choosing friends, finding interests... He does root for the Cubs, the Bears and the Bulls because that sort of sticks with you, but in general I'd say he's not a Chicagoan He's a Hoosier. I'd guess right now you're more of a Texan because I'm guessing you're a teenager and I'd say you grew up and found all your interests in Texas.
