Where are the best jazz clubs to go to in Chicago?

Bars in Chicago, Illinois : Which good bars or clubs can I go to but NOT drink in as I am only 20?

  • I am visiting Chicago this thursday for a week or so with my boyfriend and his family. My boyfriend, his brother and his brothers girlfriend would quite like to go out for a night in chicago but seeing as though I am the only one under 21 who is letting the side down I was wondering if there were many bars or clubs in chicago where over 18s can go in but just not drink? I definatley am not even going to try and get in places where the age limit is 21 because I do not want to mess with the US police force or that sort of thing (I know it is very strict in the US for underage drinking!) It would just be nice to know If there is anywhere we can go where I am guaranteed to get in if I show them my passport. Im 21 in 4 months which is a bit annoying but nevermind! Thanks.

It would have to be a bar with a restaurant. These are the only kind that permit underage people in. But you're in luck, there are a lot of them. You could try the ESPN Zone downtown. A million TV sets tuned to every game going on, decent food. There's other chain places like Hard Rock Cafe or even Hooters (yes, kids are allowed in there. I've seen them there). There's a place called Dave and Busters on North Clark Street. If you want someplace a little out of the way and NOT a chain bar/restaurant you can try Charlie's Ale House in Andersonville (North Clark Street), or there are a few bar/restaurants in the area surrounding Wrigley Field. And if you want a really special place where your friends can drink and you can just hang out with them, try the Signature Lounge at the top of the John Hancock building.

haha! ok man, Im going to answer the REAL question you are asking but are not. follow me? We have all been there. first off, avoid Wrigleyville (Clark Street) at all costs. every where there will check your ID. except Goose Island. but that place sucks. Uptown, Andersonville, Bucktown are pretty good. Chain-Restaurants will let you in but if you attempt to drink, they will card you in a second. my advice to you is BYO restaurants. that means, you can bring whatever booze you want and just order the food there. My favorite place is Tango Sur on Southport. Remember, BYO! bring your own wine, beer, whatever and sit back and relax. some places charge you a corkage fee, but thats a small price to pay for drinking underage. haha! go to www.metromix.com they list a bunch of BYO places. hope this helps
