Where to live in Chicago?

Where should we live in Chicago?or Suburbs?

• Hello, we will be moving to chicago in January and I'm totally lost right now, so please help me out. My wife and I are 23 and recent college graduates. we will be working in Hoffman Estates and I would like to live somewhere not too far from city and not too far from work. I would also like to have public transportation available from where we will live to chicago so that our visitors can go to the city by subway or bus while we are at work. We like shopping, going out at night, meeting new people and we feel like if we stay too far from the city we won't have fun at all. if we live in chicago, it would take forever to go to work and we would have to wake up really early for the commute and if we live close to work the city would be too far and :( again 1. We don't want to live to far from the Chicago and not too far from Hoffman Estates. 2. We would like to be able to take public transportation to chicago. Thank you! and please be nice :)

  I would recommend the Jefferson park neighborhood, which is a little further north and west of Irving Park. It is served by the Blue Line, so trips into the fun parts of the city shouldn't be bad time wise. It's a neighborhood that's full of police officers and firefighters due to the city's requirements that city workers live within city bounds. For this reason it is considered a family oriented neighborhood. I've been told that there are a few bars in the neighborhood, but that you tend to see the same people each time you go there. I don't know about you and your wife, but I'd consider that a plus, but some people like to go out and meet new people all the time. Also, the highway splits the neighborhood so getting to Hoffman Estates should be a breeze. I think you should look into the neighborhood a little bit more!
