How much would a Ticket cost for Amtrak from Chicago and Wisconsin Dells?
-
Also how long would it take? Would you need a long trip train with the beds and everything? And do you have to reserve a tickets before you arrive at the station? And me and my family are planning to take off at Union Station.

Answer:
The price for one adult ticket from Chicago to Wisconsin Dells would range from $58-$75 depending on what day of the week you are traveling, i.e. weekday vs. weekend. The ticket from Wisconsin Dells to Chicago would range from $44-$75, also depending on what day of the week you're traveling. So the total round trip price can be between $102 to $150. According to the Amtrak website, the trip from Chicago to Wisconsin Dells takes 3 hours and 37 minutes. The trip back from Wisconsin Dells to Chicago takes 3 hours and 46 minutes. For such a short trip, I would say that buying a room with beds and amenities is not necessary unless you want to do it for extra comfort. I would recommend reserving (and purchasing) a ticket before you arrive at the station since many people travel from Chicago to Wisconsin Dells in the summer and tickets sell quickly in this high travel season. Have fun! :)

Different times you leave are different prices as are days of the week. It is always best to reserve tickets, Seats do sell out. Time is 3 hours 37 minutes Price is around $44.00 per person one way

Well, if you don't want the tickets to be sold out I suggest you buy online. To find the cost, go to Amtrak.com and do and experimental search. Just enter in how many people are coming, when you are going, and where you are going. I don't know when you are leaving, but from what I saw it would be around $40 a person ($20 each way). Sorry if I disappoint you, but I highly doubt you will need bedrooms if you are going from N. Illinois to Wisconsin. It looks like the trip takes about 3 hrs and 40 minutes.

Since I can make it from Chicago to the Dells by car in about 4 hours, a train probably would take just as long, so unless you plan to sleep on the train while visiting the Dells (I don't know if that's even possible) you won't need any beds on the train.

The Amtrak website would have that info. I wouldn't think you'd need a sleeper for such a short trip.
