i just got back from a weekend trip to chicago and we stayed at the Conrad Hilton onS.Michigan ave. the place is amazing, the staff was very very helpful and professional. they even have a shuttle that will take you to and from the shopping on N. Michigan (Magnificant Mile). we didn't use the shuttle cause we took a cab to Gino's East and just walked up to Michigan and since we forgot to take the paaper with the pick up and drop offs places with us we decided to take the bus back to the hotel. but the shuttle is very convent. they also have a baggage check for 1.50 a big they will hold you bags till i believe 7 or 8 in the evening, which was great for us becasue or train didn't leave till 8 that evening, so we didn't have to lug our luggage around all day while we took the double decker/ trolly car tour that stops right in from the hotel. if u book with the hotel you get a $5 discount per person. the Hilton is just a great hotel, if you go you should saty there, i would say its higer priced but worth it ( don't do room service through because they charge 17% tax PLUS like 4.50 delivery charge. eat at the pavillion downstairs(which is where the room service comes from) in the morning and kitty o'shays in the evening, the turkey chili is amazing)

The Peninsula @ 312-337-2888. No doubt about it. The best in Chicago and in the heart of everything. Call the front desk directly and tell them that you heard this is one of the best hotels. Appeal to them, ask them if they can give you a break on the rate as you are visiting for a fun weekend in Chicago. http://chicago.peninsula.com/ ask for speacials.

Try the: The Intercontinental Chicago or the W Chicago City Center. Both hotels currently have space available at $199 a night. These are right in the center of everything. So great shopping locations. :) This is a normal rate to be in this location. You can get cheaper but, you have to move away from city center, which would end up costing more money because you would have to Taxi back to the city center. The W hotel is a little more trendy and hip. My only dislike on W Hotels is that they are very dark(poor lighting) and the rooms are small. The Intercontinental is a regular modern 4 star property. You can't go wrong with either, in my opinion. But, I would lean towards the Intercontinental. Two girls shopping in Chicago will have fun no matter what you pick. :) :) W Chicago City Center www.whotels.com The Intercontinental Chicago http://chicago.intercontinental.com/

The Hard Rock Hotel is right on Michigan Ave. There are a lot of nice hotels on Michigan Ave, actually. The Intercontinental is another one that's super nice. Either of those 2 would be my recommendations. Michigan Ave is also where the Magnificent Mile is which is a mile of AMAZING shopping. And these hotels are located right in the middle of the mile. Have fun!

If you can afford it, perhaps a boutique hotel would be most interesting. Here are some close to the Mag Mile shopping. I also really recommend you go shopping in some of the neighborhoods, such as Wicker Park (Damen stop on O'Hare branch of Blue Line), Clark/Belmont (Belmont stop on Red Line) and Armitage area (Armitage stop on Brown Line). Bring your walking shoes, and have fun! :) P.S.: I see someone recommended the Drake. If you like, you should look into going to tea time there! It's a lot of fun, and beautiful, polite men serve you delicious tea and munchies. It's in a historic building, right by the Oak Street Beach. Hard Rock Hotel set up shop in a historic building that pre-existed the Hard Rock chain.... The name of that building is the Carbide & Carbon Building.
