What are the best beaches in Chicago?

Chicago beaches from Union Station !?

  • I heard there were two nice beaches @ downtown Chicago. North Avenue beach and Oak st beach I wanted to know how long it would take from Union Station, and if I needed to get a taxi. Also how much a taxi would cost to get there. Sorry one more thing, does anyone know any information I need to know about those beaches, like which one would be better?

  • Answer:

The #151 bus which is right upstairs from Union Station (follow the sign to local transportation) goes to both beaches. For Oak St beach you would get out at the Hancock bldg 875 N michigan (when you're on michigan avenue watch the numbers increase block by block) or for North Avenue it would be at 1600 North in both cases head east or right. For Oak street there is a path to cross lake shore drive. For North avenue you can see the beach house built like a ship. A cab would be easy too about $10. I think North Avenue is nicer.
