Great, safe, cheap places to live in south michigan or north ohio?

• I live in South East michigan right now. I would prefer to stay in michigan, but don't mind ohio. My fiance and I are looking to perchase a house, but don't know where to look. I don't know much about Ohio, other than North Toledo. What places are nice and safe that would be a great place to live? we also have a daughter and planning on another one sometime in the near future. So I am looking for good schools, safe neighborhood and the city some where close... Please help. Thanks
