Is Roseland neighborhood in Chicago a safe neighborhood?

Good chicago neighborhood?

• I'm moving to chicago for a job. I'll be working in the Loop and I'm looking for a good neighborhood where i can live. since gas is outrageous i don't want to be in a neighborhood that's too far from work. but i also want a neighborhood where i can start a family one day. so it has to be safe, and also just a decent living place in general. i know there's crime all over, but the least there is the better. I'd also like a place that's not EXTREMELY expensive. my career is in psychology, so money won't be too much of a problem. but i still wouldn't want to pay an arm and leg for a house. Thanks :)

  If you wish to live inside the city and have a family, I would suggest either the northwest or north sides of Chicago (with the exception of East Rogers Park, Uptown, and Edgewater). Don't consider "trendy" areas that young singles gravitate to because they are super-congested, and they offer nothing of interest to children. There is adequate public transportation throughout the city. There are decent middle income areas generally in a radius of five to ten miles from the Loop. Areas closer in are usually congested, and few traditional families live there. Be aware that most middle and upper income Chicagoans do not send their children to public schools because of the poor quality of the underclass students and disinterested faculty. Many, if not most, of Chicago's suburbs are OK for families and have decent to excellent schools; but it would be too time consuming for me to provide you with a list of all the suburbs to consider.
